Ray Shenton

Introduction

Ray has been in professional bands most of his working life. In November 2001, Ray re-launched his singing career, as a tribute artiste to the Great Billy Fury. Ray is a great fan of Billy and was lucky enough to meet him on three occasions in the early 70s. Ray had retired from the music scene for 10years, but on his return to the stage he instantly felt at home again and as soon as he started singing Billy’s songs, he felt “Like he’d never been gone”.

In the short time since the inaugural performance, he has received some fantastic reviews and has met some truly wonderful people. These people are mostly Billy fans who enjoy telling Ray all kinds of stories of when they saw Billy or when they met Billy. All are fantastic stories and Ray soaks them up like a sponge. As we all know Billy’s fans are truly the most loyal fans in the world. Ray would like to thank all the wonderful people he has met since his return to the stage.

Ray would also like to give special thanks to his lovely wife Jean, Moya Gleave in New Zealand, Billy’s Mam Jean and Albie Wycherley Billy’s brother.

As an extension of the popularity of the show Ray is due to tour New Zealand for nine weeks from the 8th of December 2004.

Also a special mention goes to Big Al & the Silver Fox, Mr Harry Whitehouse & all Ray & Jean's family & friends for their continued support.
